About me

My name is RAFFAELE CELLA and I am a freediving instructor, breathing coach and athletic trainer. I’ve always had a strong connection to sports and nature, especially the sea, despite also fearing its vast depths.

RAFFAELE CELLA

The call of the sea

In 2011, after sustaining a shoulder injury, I decided to fully immerse myself in the very element I both loved and feared. This marked the beginning of an exciting and transformative journey to become a diver and freediver, improving my underwater skills and expanding my knowledge. The sea and its submerged world became my greatest passion, and the experience profoundly changed me.

Along the way, I earned an engineering degree and had the chance to travel the world through my work. But, despite all these opportunities, I always felt out of place. In 2018, I made a life-changing decision: I left my job and the stability of a “secure career” to fully dedicate myself to sports and movement. Through continuous training, I turned this passion into my profession.

Leaving my comfort zone

However, when the pandemic struck, everything shifted—the world turned upside down, and my projects faced new challenges. During this time, I also became a father and this further changed my perspective on life. Tired of a society I could no longer relate to—its chaos, relentless pace, and pressures—I made the decision to return to my roots, to the sea.

I became a freediving instructor and started organizing my own courses, which received overwhelmingly positive feedback. This encouraged me to deepen my commitment and turn my passion into a mission. I continue to train at some of the best freediving centers in Italy and internationally, while specializing in advanced breathing techniques.
For the past five years, I have consistently practiced Wim Hof’s cold exposure techniques, experiencing significant benefits. Understanding the profound connection between the mind and body, I have incorporated this method into my training, using its remarkable potential to work with individuals and help them unlock their own power.

Breathe. Move. Dive.

Oxygenesis

MISSION

Throughout my journey, I’ve chosen unconventional paths, often stepping outside my comfort zone. This is because I’ve developed a clear mission: to help people manage stress and anxiety through the power of breathing and being underwater, fostering overall well-being by reconnecting with their bodies and nature.
Breathing is the foundation of well-being, serving as a tool to anchor us to the present moment. Freediving offers a unique way to connect with water, overcome limits and experience true freedom. Movement is the essential key for improving health and performance.

Oxygenesis was created to be a point of reference for freediving, breathing, and movement. We offer certified training courses, personalized pathways, collaborations with professionals, and trips focused on freediving, nature exploration, and sharing underwater experiences.
